I get a kick out of modding my old systems, even with simple "insert part here" mods. My old DS lite is still in daily use in 2025 as an e-reader and an audiobook player for my nine-year-old. (#moonshell for the win, baby!)

This was my first experience soldering a beloved piece of *working* equipment. It was scary, but a really helpful video walked me through it. And now my ~25-year-old old cube is as good as ever, now with a little of me in it. I love it.
