I just soldered some wires to a #rapsberrypi #pico in preparation for a #GameCube mod.

At the point of no return with the #GameCube modding project. Everything up to Herr has been screws, now I'm going to solder cables onto this board.
Let's review all this documentation one more time...

What a journey with the #GameCube mod. I soldered (and resoldered, and resoldered) a #RaspberryPiNano into the GC. I must have broken down and rebuilt the cube a dozen times. But I've plugged it in, and combined with a digital-to-HDMI, Windwaker has never looked better. :)

I'm no expert, but the GameCube seems really well designed for maintenance. I encountered just 3 types of screws. Parts popped on and off relatively easily.

I get a kick out of modding my old systems, even with simple "insert part here" mods. My old DS lite is still in daily use in 2025 as an e-reader and an audiobook player for my nine-year-old. (#moonshell for the win, baby!)
This was my first experience soldering a beloved piece of *working* equipment. It was scary, but a really helpful video walked me through it. And now my ~25-year-old old cube is as good as ever, now with a little of me in it. I love it.
