@menherahair @nyanide @waifu The GNU From Scratch guide recommends that you go install a proprietary version of Linux and I reckon it also recommends other proprietary software, thus following that proprietary guide without modifications means you are running proprietary software.

All RISC-V hardware that I have inspected that could be used as a proper computer has had at least a nonfree bootloader, with nonfree DDR4 RAMinit at least, thus it is almost guaranteed you are running proprietary software if you are using a computer with a CPU that implements RISC-V.
