I just find it amusing thinking about beaucrats maintaining a Linux distro. I mean, good luck to them, but I'm sure they will invent a way to make it cost 10x as much money to maintain as it should.
I find it amusing. A better thing they could do would be to simply double-down on the various grant programs, e.g. NGI Zero.
