@lnxw37a2 Allowing federating with everything by default made sense back when it was possible to list all active Fedi servers in a small table that fit a single screen. Back then it was fun and exciting to see new faces on your timeline as it often let you discover entirely unknown servers and communities. Nowadays it's a goddamn roulette. Not to mention the whole recent Nicole spam.
