I never complained about getting a little dirty or having to do manual labor to move shit around the floor. At least the things I worked on manifested in reality unlike the vast majority of tech companies. When I get to play with a PLC and see a machine move off a command I gave it, or I pull a litany of counter tags from a quarter million dollar piece of equipment, it feels "real". Even though I work remote in an ivory tower now on architecture/infosec, I still insist on visiting plants when I have spare time so I can remind myself of this.
