i say this as someone who doesn't like PACs and would rather we stopped them but the argument why they are legal actually makes some amount of legal sense (rich people are allowed to have opinions and buy ads, same as poor people, its just poors can't afford to actually do it.)

there is an argument to be made to flex the free speech bits a little, though that itself is hazardous to futz with.
