I always thought the Taiwanese expression meant something like “beggars can’t be choosers” or “the little that we have is better than the nothing that we could have”. I once used it in front of my mother-in-law, and her shocked expression makes me think there might be a lot of sexual innuendo happening in those prawns and fish.
