Europe imports 10 million barrels of oil a day for about 600 million people.China imports 11 million barrels of oil per day for 1,420 million people. The US imports 2 million barrels of oil per day for 340 million people. There is no steel at scale without coal and oil, and no oil at scale without steel and therefore coal.
