Circa 2011 they mostly got data from Yahoo, which got fed into their own rank algorithm (i.e. while most of their data came from Yahoo, their results were not just Yahoo results; unlike today where their results are just Bing results). AIUI, the Yahoo data was minorly augmented with their own crawler.
