@ret They used to be, but nowadays scanned by a laser engraver on a multiple colour laser ply polymer. It's one that doesn't melt but is blasted away by the laser etcher. It's got an adhesive layer on the bottom, a 1.5mm white layer, and then a thin foil layer that's etched through. The thick white layer can be a few colours, the thin foil on top a whole heap of colours. They are the coolest old-school things, really.
