The eponymous "Black Sabbath" is indeed stellar. "Paranoid" as an album was good, but hardly better than anything that came after it.
"Master of Reality", "Vol. 4", and "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath" are rightfully heralded as awesome. To this I'd add "Sabotage" as an album equal to those that came before it.
"Technical Ecstasy" was crap. "Never Say Die" has one and a half good tracks.
Then came the brief Dio era. Both "Heaven and Hell" and "Mob Rules" are great albums with plenty of great song.
"Born Again" is often hated because of the album cover or because Deep Purple and Black Sabbath don't seem like a good mash-up. However, "Born Again" is solid and better than some of the Ozzy and even Dio stuff.
After that it's mostly Iommi solo stuff of varying quality. The two exceptions are "Cross Purposes" which was underwhelming despite having Geezer Butler on bass and "Dehumanizer" which had some really good stuff with Dio.
Also, the "Heaven & Hell" as a band was better than the "Black Sabbath" "13" album which was a swipe at all the artists who worked on non-Ozzy Sabbath albums aside from albums with Dio and Gillan due to the later two's Metal popularity.
tl;dr "Born Again" is an underrated Black Sabbath album.
