There are a lot of people I think that see commerce as a good or bad thing, but it's kind of similar to violence - it can be used to good or bad ends.

I think a lot of people in particular that hate it get really focused on people using it for bad things and think they can somehow "get rid of it" - but just like violence, that's not possible.

People that make a lot of money also seem to think they are important similar to how general act.

I think the older concept of "if you make a lot of money it is incumbent on you to do something good with it" is a more correct way of looking at things; no-one imagines that if you wield tons of violence that you aren't responsible for results.
