@arcana @7666 @collappsar @nyanide It's not even that much about UX, the problem is that a) their friends don't use it, so why should they b) switching entire communities of friends to other solutions is complicated c) everybody signs up on matrix.org making it unmantainable.

I have a group of friends that like to have movie nights over Discord. When Discord threatened that they will scan for copyrighted material being streamed, the first reaction was "oh fuck". After I offered hosting a Matrix server for them "a)" and "b)" happened and after Discord gave up a month ago, nobody cared.

It's the same most people.
Twitter became "bad", unhappy users switched to Bluesky only to mostly return a week later.
People are still using FB and FB Messenger even though it's a barely usable IM now.
