I don't know, the edges never really bothered me. You don't have problems if you don't press them into your hand: you're supposed to hold it from the back.

It was a significant innovation over the previous designs, like Atari's tard controller or the Colecovision's batshit insane "Stick, four triggers, wheel, and full numpad, because let's just shove in fucking everything" controller. The knuckleduster on that thing actually did rub yer fingers raw.
