@mischievoustomato@tsundere.love @penny@mk.noob.quest if they were to develop efficiency and speed into gecko (keep in mind, i'm a novice of how coding works, so this may be a non-issue.) that would open holes into the privacy-based sector of firefox, right? something like webgl (hell, javascript in general), for example, is very useful for efficiency and convenience, but it has huge privacy concerns for people who use VPNs, or are concerned about finger-printing. it seems like that would isolate the rest of their base, and it'd be easier to develop a new engine or use webkit (but, like you said, this is idealistic considering they don't have the resources or capital for a project of this capacity).
