@BeAware the fact that we still rely on the traditional server/client model and thus not truly decentralized.
if a mastodon server in america (like mastodon.social) is taken down, that data is just gone.
now if we used ipfs (or similar) then the data could persist regardless of the original (seeder/server?) being taken down.
it's currently not really de-centralized, it's more poly-centralized.
