@tinker Yeah, this has always made way more sense to me. Solar panels are maybe 20% efficient, and LEDs 50%. So overall only 10% of the sun's light energy is going to your plants when going this route. Using mirrors while minimizing the total number of reflections seems like the most efficient route (silver mirrors have >90% reflectance from the visible through the mid-infrared), but they're bulky. Optical fibers would be much more convenient, but would need to have good coupling efficiency.
