Trump tried sending them back on military planes with the Colombian citizens in shackles.

Petro refused the flights because of the way they were treating their citizens. Normally they'd be sent back on comecial flights.

The end compromise was for Colombia to send their own military planes to pick up their citizens.

Trump lost the ability to make a spectacle out of these people. He's not going to get photo opportunities where these people are chained up like it's a prison transfer.
