@BeAware media limit and compressing can be worked on as improvement to the mastodon server. My thinking is about getting an instagram alternative out that runs on a stable service, pixelfed is basically reimplementing mastodon but the true feature is the app not the service. Mastodon runs very smooth and has everything implemented and working already. Meanwhile I tried to follow a hashtag on pixelfed and the feature just doesn't exist. I feel like if the app ran over mastodon would have it work
