    Pretty well-hidden:

    1. Control Panel
    2. Network and Sharing Center
    3. Click on little "Ethernet" link (first screenshot)
    4. "Properties" button (needs admin rights)
    5. "Configure" button
    6. "Advanced" tab
    7. Find "Speed & Duplex" in the list
    8. Change it to "1.0 Gbps Full Duplex"

    Funnily, changing it back to "Auto Negotiation" works fine now and chooses 1 Gbit automatically. I'll have to observe what happens the next time I reboot my PC.
