I think Signal's Meredith Whittaker sums it up effectively: the technology should be private and secure for all, yes, but the ethos should never hold a neutrality between freedom and fascism. The very principles of such tech and civil liberties are in opposition to fascism, and just as Meredith Whittaker has, we should all champion opposition to fascism. Expressing "neutrality" is, after all, simply supporting the oppressor.
