@anna I use a walking cane at conferences and have lower vision (astigmatism and peripheral blindness). I am also having trouble understanding the map on screen and already know I wouldn't be able to read it properly onsite with my phone (I think I have tried to use it before). @johanvdw if you are interested I can show you in person some of the issues in getting around at FOSDEM and especially what happens when using a cane in the crowd.
