Last post about the Fediverse before I cease talking about this topic for a much needed break.

By Sunday, TikTok will be banned.

I fully expect a big uptick in Pixelfed users as a result. And also, lots of interest in Loops as well.

Perhaps, by the weekend, the Loops site will launch.

If @dansup launches it, I sincerely hope he caps the registrations and makes it invite only for awhile. And no, this isn’t to push FOMO (though that works as a marketing tactic). It’s more like capping registrations allows you to sanely scale your servers while you test out bugs.

Because as much as I like Pixelfed, there have been growing pains—which were somewhat offset because Pixelfed’s growth itself was slow for the first seven years of its existence. And I’m sure lessons were learned from November 2022 as well.

But with Loops, it’s a different story. Now that the cat is out of the bag with Pixelfed, I guarantee people will be knocking down the door with Loops if they haven’t already.

That’s fine, though. Let folks wait a little bit. Now is the time to do some QA with people currently using the app so that more will benefit.

Of course, this is just my opinion. Take it with a grain of salt.
