You gotta help people when they're down and get paid when you can. I do some quasi-pro bono representation every now and then too (reduced costs. I bill the whole thing though in case there's a fee award), but I prefer to represent small businesses because they tend to be pragmatic and I can provide value — make them money, avoid liability, etc. It's not just sunk costs.
