Turns out there's only one RAM slot and only one drive compartment which is configured for NVMe in my case, so just spent as much for a 2 terabyte drive as I did for the laptop itself. Plus threw a 16 gig stick, could've went with 32 but didn't want to wait for delivery and I'd very likely never run anything that needs more anyway.
