When Runciman and Lewis said - a couple of times during the podcast - that Fight Club and Project Mayhem aren't really coded fascist, it was clear they don't understand Eco's insights. They're mistaking its content for its essence.

Because it doesn't resemble the most famous historical forms taken by the chameleon of fascism, they don't see it. This is understandable, but dangerous.
