I'd guess that three days out of five for more than a year, I stood right behind Steve in the cafeteria cashier line. I was a fan whereas JK, who started at Apple in '87, was of the "get off the elevator when Steve gets on" school.

When I was speechwriting I'd make clients watch his famous 1997 WWDC answer. The stool, the water bottle, the mic handling... it's a masterclass in stage presence.

But despite my admiration, I don't think of him as charismatic. Almost the opposite.
