Abraham makes his servant swear an oath that he will not let his son marry a Canaanite. He then tasks him with going to his homeland to find him a wife, requesting he stop at a cousin's house. He does this, and the servant prays to God that he would be shown a specific sign by the girl of whom he is to approach. He prays that the woman will draw water from the well for him and let him drink and then will water his camels without asking. This ends up happening with Rebekah, and the servant recounts the long story to her family before everybody agrees and he leaves with her. She marries Isaac as soon as they arrive back at camp.
