Because up until very recently if you produced high quality, sincerely anti-establishment art, didn't even have to be right wing really, you got your life ruined. Not to mention banned from payment providers, social media, online platforms, etc.
The better an artist was, the harder they came after him. It was textbook political repression and it works.
