Recently, Capt Liu, who miraculously piloted the Sichuan Air flight 8633 to safety, commented about the Jeju Air tragedy. I am glad he spoke up about this as some Chinese Weibo-ers were being obnoxious about this situation (the less said the better). Sure, a pilot's training plays and essential part, but the inconvenient truth is that luck also plays a big part in surviving air disasters.
