So effectively zero worries from patent side (the adopters agreement that spells this out in more words is public)
If you think that barrel connectors are better, then you are honestly delusional. Besides being impossible to identify the correct one, they are usually trash and don't hold up to repeated insertions anywhere as well as USB-C. USB-C is genuinely one of the most robust connectors available for constant plugging and unplugging. If you're having problems, you should just clean up your ports, and maybe (just maybe) look into replacing your cable if that's not enough
