@lanodan @kaia I think it's what he fantasises about under the surface, I missed the SOMA stream but I saw people on /vt/ saying that he said several things that makes it clear that he's an "upload me to a computer" cyberpunk type, so I think subconsciously he has fallen in love with his own creation and wants to become one with her.
