We have an interesting relationship in which they talk at me in four languages (Vietnamese, Teochew, Cantonese and English) and I understand half of them and speak to them in only one (Teochew)

There’s a term for people who talk to each other in diff Chinese languages, when you understand but don’t speak. ‘Chicken and duck talking to each other’

In our case it’s more of like, chickens, ducks, geese and swans all at once
