william.maggosthat was a myth imo. we can either have nations pursuing their own interests (often corrupted by the donors to their leaders) or the decision to support a strong UN that will best manage international conflict. what the US does is the first while saying they are supporting liberal democratic world order. until the US decides to concede power and work towards a better UN, shit is fucked. confusion, collateral damage and unintended consequences everywhere.
