I've noticed the same pattern in articles defending him:
1. pointing out that he's a "journalist," but only as a status signifier — no attention paid to the actual *work* of journalism, journalistic ethics, &c.
2. defending his "opinions" or "positions" as normal — no attention paid to his weird alliance with "kiwi farmers," the invasive personal frame he takes when women like Julia Serano criticize him, &c.
