Is that worse than private industry literally purposefully killing people for profit though?

I'm all for capitalism, but in this specific industry, i don't necessarily know if it's actually the better model. If there was no profit tied to it, i feel like government mandated would mean the goal is "healthy population for taxes" instead of "take as much money and make the people as sick as possible".
