You raise some good points, and I'm starting to understand what people are getting at when they argue BS = better for public, Mastodon = better for private.

But the reasons for a lot of our apparent disagreements come down to 2 things.

First, your arguments implicitly treat AP/ fediverse as synonymous with Mastodon. If I say fediverse, I mean the whole network. If I say AP, I mean the protocol as standardised by W3C and extended by FEPs. If I mean Mastodon, I say so.
