I get the distinct impression that people who idealize the French Revolution don’t really know much about history and don’t care to learn.
It’s become romanticized as a glorious and utopic display of autonomy and freedom when in reality it was chaotic, bloody, and paved the way for a despot to take over.
Anyone read Dickens? Do they teach this in colleges anymore? It’s free.
