While I appreciate your commitment to privacy and opsec, writing to especially political prisoners is a valid thing to advocate for. I've never done it myself but I think this is a failing on my part. Not everyone rotting in jail is worthy of being cut entirely from human communion with the rest of the world, and if you truly believe in forgiveness of people who deserve it there's a lot of leverage in connecting humanity you can get by finding people in a dark hole and giving light to them. I don't know who she is suggesting people write to but I'm with @twintrouble@kolektiva.social (who was in the same prison as some of the j6ers iirc, as an actual political prisoner) that prisons and the isolation they entail do some damage to humanity itself, and part of the way out of that is to not to let the social isolation between 'us' and 'them' be full. [ It's tragic that kolektiva users can't see either of us of course, that the social isolation we allow to cut humanity at the prison wall also cuts directly through the fediverse ]
If radish is truly advocating for prisoners to not be left in the dark that's a valuable stance that should be encouraged, since it's a hard one for people to stomach and even harder to support against the grain -- just like being against the death penalty of people you don't agree with.
