@davetroy great piece. I enjoyed @pluralistic s personal account on the issue, and your writing is a great sidecar to support my residency here on Mastodon.

Specifically, I like your point about people simply not caring where funding is originating. I think it speaks to the greater US sentiment towards systems/platforms of tech. In a further digitized world, with public goods dictated by some of these exact systems, "as long as it works" won't last. We need more people to think critically.
