Before transitioning to blue-ocean.social [hear-me.social’s admin Bluesky PDS], I openly expressed my support for the LGBTQ+ community by simply stating, “I support LGBTQ+ people.” To my surprise and disappointment, my comment was met with censorship. Instead of fostering open dialogue and mutual understanding, the platform chose to silence my voice. To me, this was not just about a single comment being removed—it was a clear indication that Bluesky, a platform meant to encourage connection and free expression, failed to uphold those values in my case.
This experience highlights the importance of ensuring that online spaces are safe and inclusive for everyone. Whether we’re sharing our beliefs, supporting marginalized communities, or engaging in meaningful conversations, our ability to communicate freely should never be compromised. Freedom of speech is not just a privilege; it’s a right we should all strive to protect, both in the physical world and the digital one.
