, I want to share our apology for this mistake:During the gala, we recognized a large number of students, journalists, medical workers, activists, and other Americans who have played an important role in speaking out against the genocide in Gaza over the past year. Due to a vetting oversight on our part, we did include at least one advocate for Palestinians who has expressed positions on Syria that contradict our values. Completely understand. We are going to meet Monday to discuss this further and then can post a follow-up with any next steps, insha Allah. For now, I just wanted to make sure the community knows that this was truly an oversight. Late nominees slipped through the vetting cracks amid the chaos of banquet planning.
