The Seven Voyages Of Steve@psychicparrot42 I had a similar experience; when I left school even tech generally was “something other people do”, there were no computers in the first places I worked, only a few dumb terminals which were looked after by a couple of old scary hermits hiding in a server room. I never thought I’d be able to break into that circle; even though I seemed to have a knack for computers it didnt seem like an available career path for any but a very select wizard class. Things changed fast in the 90s
