@vriska @arcana @eemmaa @mischievoustomato @lucy @tiskaan @teratology I'm talking about the company not him. they are massively cheaper, to the point that there is literally no competition for contracts, they bid like 1/6 the next lowest bid and they have delivered pretty mind blowing stuff like vertical landing and reusable segments while boeing is circling the drain on even its existing stuff, like their disastrous capsule stuff. I'm not attributing any of this to musk but the company is doing really good work objectively. I'm not educated on if paying NASA directly could do better than paying spacex but I do know that I was trying to learn more about historic missions and half the work was always done by contractors anyway
