@deadheat Even the Chinese know that proprietary garbage often falls (you do not want the country to totally fall over when the internet or power grid collapses), you shouldn't torture old people (you shouldn't torture young people either, but hey) and also how it's hard to get money from some tourists who cannot get access to Chinese "digital payments", but can easily get their hands on plenty of cold hard cash.

Legally there is a requirement that stores accept government currency, although many, many businesses have illegally gone cashless.
