Charlie Stross@dany_57987 The entire LLM sector is a pyramid scheme, like cryptocurrencies before it (and, arguably, quantum computing). GANs in general are *not* a pyramid scheme, but the only bit that appeals to uneducated investors is spicy autocomplete, so that's where most of the money goes (rather than into, say, protein folding or medical diagnosis or image recognition *other than* face/puppy recognition).
