I was talking about the various "experts" who peddle conspiracy theories and bizarre pseudoscience and the like. They still all have the same story-- "You can't trust deliberative institutions. Only I, the renegade, know what's going on. Trust me and my friends."
Like, that's also the Alex Jones move in a nutshell. And the drip drip drip of "don't trust consensus reality/institutions" has been corrosive.
