Kids are STILL punished for speaking Hawaiian today. My mother's hands were shattered for speaking Hawaiian in school. - Native Hawaiians / Pl have the HIGHEST rate of incarceration in the US (4x whites), and the lowest healthy life expectancy. . - Our Native Hawaiian children are also targeted by the US for child removal to prevent parents from passing Hawaiian language, history, and lifeways down to the next generation.
