- Embed this noticeHonestly, at least where I am, the female Louisiana blacks who ended up out here did so because they were traditional and followed their husband's, who were typically military or oil workers.
They're very well mannered and polite. I had one as a client. I worked on her husband's estate after he passed. When I asked her how she ended up in California, She told me that her mom told her to "stay away from that Dr. King. He's no good. Marry your boyfriend and follow him." She did, and lived an upper middle class life in a very White community.
As an aside, she owned a 1/32nd interest in a 40 acre parcel in LA that was a post civil war share crop. She told me she didn't know where the mule was though.
